City Club of Eugene
Board meeting minutes 6/27/24
Attendees: Andrew Kalloch (President), Thomas Hiura (President-elect), Kathryn Adair (Treasurer), Sandy Smalley (Secretary), Alyssa Gilbert, Kelly Johnson, Ralph Pledger, Josh Pugh (intern)
Absent: Marti Ravits
Introduction of old and new Board members. Welcomed Alyssa and Kelly. Farewell and congratulations to Josh, who has taken a job in Seattle.
Minutes from last board meeting (5/23/24) were approved.
President’s report: Andrew
Discussion of member survey results tabled for now. We have not received Sierra’s input.
Discussion of venue change. We will no longer be able to meet in the Maple Room after July. Brian Obie has offered a sponsorship in lieu of a meeting room, but we need a new space beginning in September. Possibilities are Valley River Inn, WOW Hall, City Hall, The Eugene Mission and First Congregational Church. We require seating for around 75 people. Alyssa has spoken to representatives of the WOW Hall. They would charge us $30/ hour, with an additional $30 to use their sound system. Ralph will evaluate for AV quality. Board members will look into other possibilities.
Financial Report: Kathryn
The Club is in a good position for June. We have seen an increase in our funding and a decrease in our spending.
Kathryn is now able to separate sponsorships from donations in Bloomerang.
We have two bank accounts with Summit Bank, an operating account and a holding account.
Membership Committee: Ralph
We are still struggling with increasing our membership numbers. Ralph sends an expired member two email reminders to renew, then asks a committee member to call. He has created a spread sheet from which a committee member can select members known to them, or who they are comfortable calling.
Development: Josh
Our Annual Campaign will start this summer. Our fundraising goal is $15,000 – $20,000.
The campaign will be advertised via videos, social media, List Serve, our newsletter, website and mail. We are encouraging 100% Board participation, at any level. Josh is hoping to video testimonials from Turtle award winners, sponsors, speakers at our fora, prominent members (Kitty Piercy) and Board members.
Respectfully submitted,
Sandy Smalley, Secretary
