President’s Report: Andrew
Our P.O. Box has been reopened.
The 2022 tax investigation has been closed. Our previous bookkeeper improperly filed our 2022 taxes, then we changed banks, losing access to old records. Federal taxes were OK, but Oregon taxes were not. The state investigated, but has since dropped the case. It is possible that we may owe the state money, but that is yet to be determined.
Thanks to Josh Pugh, we have secured two grants. The Oregon Community Foundation awarded us $1200, unrestricted. The Autzen Foundation gave us $5,000 to fund our venue.
Elections are in May. We have 3 candidates who are interested; ideally we will have 5 nominees. Three current Board members are leaving (Kathryn, Marti and Sandy), and we need a minimum of 7.
Website hosting: It has been suggested we move from Alpha IT to 9 Planets, but Joey suggested that we migrate to Square Space. We might need a person to assist with that migration, but it would save us money. The Board consensus was to stay with Alpha for now, but investigate the move to Square Space.
Operations Manager: We had hoped to hire a part-time person to handle many of the day-to-day duties which are currently being done by Andrew and Kathryn. Our finances don’t allow for that hire right now, but it is hoped it can be done soon.
Committee Reports:
Membership: Ralph
We have had some success with renewals, but have gained some new members as well. We are currently at 113 members. This month there are many people coming up for renewal.
We already have “Stripe,” an app that allows us to renew on a phone or computer and immediately import to Bloomerang. Perhaps our greeters can have access to Stripe when members collect their name tags. Kelly has offered to assist when she is available.
Finance Report: Kathryn
The Club is solvent, but we had two big bills come in at the same time. The WOW Hall finally submitted their bill for our venue, totally 5 months of rent, and Alpha IT also sent a large bill.
Bloomerang doesn’t reconcile well with Quick Books, so there is duplication of some accounts. Kathryn is working to clean up the system.
Program Committee: Alyssa
All fora dates are filled through May, with a wide diversity of issues.
Media:
Marilyn provided numbers for our YouTube views and podcasts.
Ralph reported on his search for new AV equipment. The Board had previously given their approval for this purchase.
Respectfully submitted,
Sandy Smalley, Secretary
