Topic:

At the height of Covid lockdowns, middle-aged working dad and weekend warrior Eric Gran accepted a last-minute invitation to climb Mount Everest, despite having less than three months to prepare and no experience at such altitudes. His kids begged him not to go, afraid he could die for no reason. His climbing partner nearly died on the mountain from heart issues, but he continued anyway, managing to pull it off not by overcoming his shortcomings, but by embracing them.

What’s it really like to climb Mount Everest? Through words and photos, you’ll hear about the guides, climbers, Sherpas, and helicopter rescues.  You’ll learn how to survive at extreme altitudes and how we can discover our true selves if we keep going when all hope seems lost.

Note: This special evening program will take place at Marquis Eugene Assisted Living, 555 Country Club Road, Eugene, in the Community Room. No recording or livestreaming will be available.
